I bit the bullet and upgraded to TXP 4.7.3 from my modified 4.0->4.2.x->4.6.x code bases, and.. it didn’t take all that much effort to get back basic functionality- most of the plugins I relied upon have been taken in by the TXP community and rebuilt, or integrated similar functionality has been introduced into the base CMS.
